Straight away from the pose of Wolverine, you can tell he is positioned in this way to appear dominant towards the audience. Firstly, he is wearing a vest to show his physical power. His muscles are outlined make him appear 'macho' and to follow the conventions of a 'hero'. Similar to the 'Harry Potter' magazine, the colour blue is used to connotate calmness in his character - another convention of the 'typical hero'.
On the other hand, his character isn't looking at the camera giving a sense of rebellion which again with the audiences own knowledge of this character they would understand he sometimes rebellious. His strength and dominance is further outlined with his metal claws which are out giving one the assumption that he is about to fight.
His top is notably white assuming that he is angelic or a ''good guy''. By making him look ready to fight and giving him some conventions of a ''bad guy'', the white top challenges the usual conventions of a ''hero''.
If I was to make a magazine then I may not challenge conventions as I haven't got as much authority or knowledge/understanding as the real magazine makers.
