On the cover of this 'Empire' magazine 'Joker' the notorious villain off 'Batman' is posing for the camera. Ths first thing to be pointed out is his facial features which are really full of anger towards whoever is looking upon the image. His smile is outlined by the colour red, connotating either danger or passion however most likely danger as the audience are familiar with his character. His eyes are also outshone by the black eye liner he is wearing. This takes away the audiences security as they cannot see his faces which somewhat shadows his intentions.
As mentioned the colours are really significant in this magazine. The sheer amount of colours mixed up creates great confusion of his character as people cannot gain the understanding of his emotional state. This reflects his physcotic state as an unpredictable character.
Also worth pointing out is the text used. The text 'Joker' is in green to emphasise the connotation of sickness or envy. As the audience know, his character is envious of 'Batman' and is always wanting to kill him. Furthermore, the colour links itself with the colours 'The Joker' is wearing. The font is unpredictable and very un-formal as if 'jokey' just like the 'Jokers' mannerism.
To conclude from this poster, I can see that the magazine makers have used 'Joker' knowing that their audience already have a deep understanding of his character. By making him look mad and using colours like red and green to back this up, they can relate much easier to him although they already have some of thei own knowledge to back this up.
