What is really effective about this magazine poster is the contrast between light and dark colours whereas the 'Joker' one was based more around colours themselves. Binary oppositions are very effective here to show the two sides of harry potter as again, the audience should already be able to identify his character. The black represents the evil in him, e.g voldemort - the dark side and the white/purity represents his natural side where he is the 'hero'. Notice that the white over shines the black as his character is the hero and always will be.
Also what is effective about this magazine is the fact that he is staring right at the camera to give him more control and power. He looks 'fearless' giving him dominance. The crack in his glasses makes him look serious as if he is ready to fight. His eyes are blue connotating calmness. This may reflect his manner in that as a hero he has to appear calm in all situations.
On the hand it may be suggestive that he is weak as he has blood ridden stains upon his face. He may have been seriously hurt questioning whether or not her really is the hero.
